A tornado warning for Washington D.C. prompted Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to tweet that the storm was linked to climate change. After her initial tweet, she went on Instagram and posted a comment saying, “The climate crisis is real y’all … guess we’re at casual tornadoes in growing regions of the country,” reaffirming her stance that tornadoes shifting regions is largely due to climate change. Later, a meteorologist named Ryan Maue called her out saying, “The Congresswoman @AOC does not know the difference between weather and climate…Let’s try an easy analogy: Weather is what outfit you wear heading out the door. Climate is your closet wardrobe.” This just rebuffs the speculation that AOC has no idea what she’s talking about when it comes to the environment, and had no idea what she was doing when she came up with the Green New Deal. In fact, her Green New Deal can now be seen for what it is; an attempt to gain popularity and support among the left-wing Democrats and not an actual attempt to protect our environment.
