This past week the Senate voted on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal. The proposed legislation received 53 “no’s” and 47 “presents”. This deal was not supported likely because it proposed the abolition of airline flights and the rebuilding of infrastructure to make America more “sustainable”. These renovations and abolitions would end up costing roughly $93 trillion. Think about how much taxpayers would have to pay in order to pay for this ridiculous deal. Moreover, the abolition of airline flights would make international travel and travel to islands, including Hawaii, nearly impossible. One solution to solve the problem of travel to Hawaii was a train system. How on earth would America get a railway to Hawaii? Hawaii lies 2,467 miles away from California and the longest bridge over water is the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway with a mere 201 miles. Then the Democrats would propose an underwater tunnel, but the longest underwater tunnel only measures 33.46 miles. Neither of these options would be feasible with the technology currently available. Lastly, even if somehow and by some miracle we were able to construct either an underwater tunnel or a bridge, the costs would be so drastic.
